Discussion moderating roles#
To manage a discussion in an Open edX course, the user needs to be granted a specif role. This process is done by a course admin from the LMS instructor dashboard, in the “Membership” tab.

Discussions divided by cohorts-Content specific discussions#
Sometimes authors require to restrict the discussion components to a specific group of learners depending on the course content and learning-oriented objectives of the course. In this scenario, Open edX offers the cohorts functionality to accomplish this goal.
Discussions are also present in the teams functionality. Each team has its own discussion. The same rules that apply to the discussions in an Open edX course, apply for a team discussion.
